Home Education Resources
Learning Page
Learning Page provides a huge collection of professionally produced instructional materials you can download and print. Lesson plans, books, worksheets, and much more can be found here. Sign up to get all this and more for free! Again; this is an American site, so the seasons are "backwards" (you can go to previous years seasons anyway) and there is American spelling in the resources. The resources from this site are great for themed learning.

Enchanted Learning
Enchanted Learning is an American site which offers activities, stories and research information on a wide range of categories in many traditional educational areas (language, math, sciences, lote, history, geography) presented in a way that is fun and easy for children to understand and relate to. There is a subscription fee for the use of this site to download complete worksheets/books; however there are also many resources available free. A group licence is available and coordinated by an Australian Homeschooling Mum. Contact Kim (IneedJesus@iinet.net.au)

CSIRO Do It Yourself Science
A wide range of science activites and resources including games and experiments from all Science areas.

Reading A-Z
Children love the black and white books from this site that they can choose themselves and colour in as they read. There are many great fiction and non-fiction titles as well as Spanish language books. Reading A-Z also provides worksheets and literacy testing. As an American site there are some Americanisms in the writing, such as Mom, however they are not too frequent. A subscription fee to use this site. There is a group licence available and a NZ homeschooler who coordinates the use of this licence for NZ and AU families. A note from Janne: Back in 2001 we discovered this amazing Reading Resource. After using it with our 7 children we're so impressed with it that since 2003 I have undertaken the co-ordination of the Downunder Home Educators Association (DHEA) Group License. I would also like to recommend it to you. All the materials you need to: enlighten, amuse and entertain your children; spark their imagination; encourage, develop, or teach their reading - in English, French and Spanish - are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's like having your own library right at home! No shipping. No waiting. Just download a book and print as many copies as you need. You will have instant access to over 1600 books, including decodable books (a phonics based learn to read system), levelled reading books, read-aloud books, poetry books and Alphabet books, as well as, guided reading lesson plans and worksheets, phonics and phonological awareness lesson plans and worksheets, Alphabet chants, worksheets and flashcards. There are also over 1500 other flashcards plus much more, with plans to add another 100+ books, and more, in the next year! Our 7 children love these books and I'm sure yours will too - our youngest two have joined in with RAZ story time from birth! You will see on the site that to purchase an individual subscription will cost you US$79.95 (Approx AU$127.75* incl. bank fees) for 12 months full site access. As a member of the DHEA Group License this amount is substantially reduced. With Reading Programmes often $5-600, and more, for only a small fraction of the resources I'm sure you'll agree that Reading A-Z is excellent value for money. The following link will take you to the page where you can download 30 books with worksheets for FREE. In the bottom right hand corner you can preview the extra materials available to Group Licence members. To investigate the rest of the site scroll to the bottom of that page and click on 'continue tour'. On the new page you will see all the tabs to negotiate the site. The 'Home' tab (top left) will take you to the Home page where you can take the full site tour and the 'All Books' tab will allow you to investigate each book's summary page. To have a look at a sample of the books visit the site here... http://wetrack.it/readingaz/af.cgi?45 We're certain you'll be impressed! Please e-mail Janne (janne@rock3.net.nz) for more information and feel free to pass this offer on to anyone that might be interested.
